Sribima Maritime Training Centre Sdn Bhd, which is also known as SMTC was established in 1988. The primary objective of SMTC is to provide high quality, fit-for-purpose and cost effective training to the petroleum and maritime industries in Asia; which is currently a service being aggressively introduced worldwide.

SMTC’s Integrated Safety Training Centre (ISTC) is located in Miri, Sarawak (East Malaysia), and is fully equipped with comprehensive facilities and equipment to simulate as realistically as possible to actual working environments under a controlled condition. By creating such realistic simulations, the environment creates ideal opportunities for competence based training, as well as assessment. SMTC instructional staff who are assisted by support staff, are well-seasoned industry practitioners with years of field experience both within Malaysia as well as internationally.

SMTC has acquired an ISO 9001:2008 certification for providing safety training, and is approved by Petronas/Production Sharing Contractors’ Joint HSE Working Committee to conduct safety courses for the petroleum industry in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Marine Department has approved SMTC to conduct the STCW 95 modular safety courses for the merchant shipping industry. SMTC is also approved by OPITO as a training and assessment centre for the delivery of OPITO approved courses such as TBOSIET, TFOET, BOSIET, FOET, Travel Safely by Boat, etc.

Besides within Malaysia, SMTC has also trained course participants internationally including onsite training held in Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Mongolia, Japan, India, Australia, Sudan, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, Cameroon, Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Spain, Holland, Scotland, England, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Belgium, USA, Canada, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago.

SMTC are proud to provide training and courses which are:
